Unlock and Lock Your Front Door From Your Cell Phone

UNLOCK AND LOCK YOUR FRONT DOOR FROM YOUR CELL PHONE

schlagelink-deadbolt

Losing your keys and getting locked out of your house straight up blows.  If you live some where remote and cold the experience probably couldn't be any worse.  Or better yet someone is set to meet you at home, but you're delayed and won't be able to arrive for hours.  In an ideal world, if it's someone you trust, you'd just let them in, but how?

Schlage is set to introduce a set of locks, called LiNK deadbolts, that connect to your homes WiFi network and enable the homes owner to unlock or lock the door via the Web or cell phone.  In addition, the owner can also review entry logs of individuals based on requested entry or pin entered into the included keypad.  Each lock and wireless module costs $299.  Additional locks can be purchased for $199 and Schlage will charge a 'product adoption inhibiting' $12.99 monthly fee.

The locks are expected to be on sale October 2008 at Frys and other major retail outlets.

HTC Touch Diamond (Sprint) Review Already Posted

HTC TOUCH DIAMOND (SPRINT) REVIEW ALREADY POSTED

September 10th, 2008

sprint-htc-diamond-touch

Mobile Burn got their hands on Sprint's soon to be launched HTC Touch Diamond smartphone.  Overall they recommend the touchscreen device and noted a few improvements over the original Touch.  For instance, Sprint has added a larger battery life, by as much as 50%, and upped the anty in the data connectivity department with the addition of an EVDO chip, although they only achieved a 650Kbps download speed at best.  The larger battery resulted in a slightly thicker backing and an increase in weight - 4 grams to be exact - from the original.  Pictures are crisp with the 3.2MP camera, although there's no flash, and the onboard 4GB of storage will provide ample space for those limited to pics and a small music library.  The interface has been slightly updated on this iteration of the Touch and the Opera browser runs smooth as butter.  The included stylus is pretty much useless since finger control should suffice for most.  Mobile Burn recommends playing with the text input functionality before dropping the cold hard green backs.  Apparently, some may find it a bit too cumbersome for tolerance.

CyFi Wireless Speaker System

CYFI WIRELESS SPEAKER SYSTEM

Riding a bike means safety first, probably something I should practice.  You see, I wear headphones when I ride.  Although it's not balls out loud, it still inhibits my hearing. CyFi must've seen me on the road, because they've created a Bluetooth speaker specifically designed to be mounted on the handle bars of a bike.  They've included a dongle for wireless connectivity to the iPod and embedded controls in the face of the speaker for volume and track control.  It works with cell phones as well, allowing you to take calls by speaker phone.  Interesting design, but how does it sound?  Battery life is 6 hours and rechargeable.

NEW HP 2133 MINI-NOTE EMERGES ALL DRESSED UP

The mini PC craze is on.  Dell just released it's version, the Mini 9, and it looks as if HP has a refresh of their 2133 Mini-Note.  So what's different this time around aside from the excessive amount of pink?  According to Laptopmag they've inceased the LCD to 10-inches, which fills the entire bezel, where as the original sported an 8.9-inch screen.  Apparently it's still rocking a 92% keyboard and the same touchpad with buttons to the left and right of it.  HP is referring to this model as a 'clutch' and it's dinsticntly female qualites are thanks to designer Vivienne Tam.

Not much more is known at this time, but expect the HP Clutch some time next year.

One more pic after the 'leap'
